History

Today, Yolo Fliers Club offers a championship 18-Hole golf course, a 20,000 plus square foot clubhouse which includes Men’s and Women’s Locker rooms, full service restaurant and bar, beautiful event space and a full service Golf Shop. Our practice facility includes a double ended range, practice bunker, chipping green and 2 practice putting greens. Also available, our refreshing Swimming Pool with an excellent view and plenty of space.

Thanks to our quality facilities, YFC has been selected as the site for many Northern California Golf Association Tournaments, as well as both USGA Junior Boys and Senior Amateur Championship Qualifying rounds.
Yolo Fliers Club

Our History

The Yolo Fliers Club, or “The Fliers Club” as it is known to its members, is a private proprietary golf and country club with a long and proud history. Founded over a century ago by a group of aviation enthusiasts led by O.W.H. Pratt, the club was intended to be a haven for aerial enthusiasts and their families. Along with one of the finest private air fields on the West Coast, a clubhouse, swimming pool, golf course and bowling alley were part of the original plan.

1919
The Yolo Fliers Club was founded by aviation enthusiast and sportsman O. W. H. Pratt on Sunday, Sept. 28, 1919.
1921
On May 7, 1921, national attention was focused on the Fliers field when it hosted the largest aerial show of its kind on the Pacific Coast. After decades of flying success, the air field was eventually sold in 1945.
1922
On June 14, 1922, the clubhouse and swimming pool were officially dedicated. Also completed was the club gateway, which encases memorial plaques honoring the Yolo residents who died in World War I.
1941
The first club championship was held in 1941, during which Les Morris (pictured) triumphed over his best friend Bill Crawford for the title.
1958
In the spring of 1958, the second nine holes of the golf course were completed, making Yolo Fliers Club one of the better known and enjoyed 18-hole golf courses in the Sacramento Valley.
1970
In the 1970s, the Fliers Clubhouse was remodeled to include a bar & grill area for members and a uniquely round ballroom for banquets and other events.
2000
In the early 2000’s, the YFC layout was remodeled to accommodate the now-neighboring Wild Wings housing development.
2009
In addition to the remodel of the greens to USGA specifications, cart paths were also added between 2005-2009, contributing to the fantastic golfing experience available at Yolo Fliers Club.
